Standards

XHTML & CSS - the building blocks of the internet. If you don't know what the are, they're the squiggles behind a website that transform into a marvelous burst of imagery and functionality when you open your browser. That's what we'd hope anyway!

The web is supposed to be built to a set of standards, as suggested by the W3C. Although this is definitly not always the case, at Sans Design we try our best to ensure that the code behind our webites is semantic and valid. At the end of the day, why shouldn't it be - this is our job!

Development

The Web is constantly evolving at a rapid rate. New technologies, fashions and ideas are appearing all the time. It's therefore essential to keep on top of the game and up-to-date with all that's new and cool on the net. We combine an enthusiasm to progress and learn with an already well-established skill set.

In terms of design, our weapons of choice include Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks. As for websites, we code primarily in Notepad or Live Writer, the old fasioned way. When on the web we can wrap everything together with a Content Managment System (CMS) such as Wordpress or Joomla, Developmentadd a sprinkling of AJAX and PHP and the occaisional dashing of Flash.

It may not seem like a lot but when you bring it all together, the results are fantastic.

Accessibility

Accessibility covers several bases, but essentialy means a site is usable and accessible by everyone. This is regardless of what computer you're on, what size or resolution of monitor you're looking at, whether you're using a Mac, Windows or PDA, using Firefox or Internet Explorer and even if you're disabled, blind or deaf and using a special web browser.

This refers to both the visual layout and navigation of the page, menu shortcuts, including 'alt' tags within images and much more. At Sans Design we believe strongly in creating accessible, semantic websites, so we do!Accessibility

Even though it's not always possible to please everyone, we try our hardest. To discover more about design ethics and accessibility, visit the W3C website.

The Future

Our aim is to constantly push forward, set high targets, achieve them and set even higher ones. Not only for ourselves but for the benefit of you - our customers (and in turn your customers!) The internet is a mess of poorly designed and executed websites, and even though we can't change the world, we like to have our own little corner of beauty.

The web is growing more dynamic, but so is everything else. As well as expanding on the internet, we wish to expand across the entire world of media - encompassing animation, applications development, journalism and who knows what else. The FutureYou can help us by working together and pushing forwards to learn and grow. The possibilities are endless...
